Time now for today's class in "HD 101"...As we try to make the conversion to High Definition TV easy for everyone to understand.
Tonight, answers to some very common questions regarding the best way to receive High Definition signals.
A lot of people can't believe this....but the easiest way of receiving High Def shows on your HDTV is putting an antenna on your roof ....or buying an old fashioned rabbit ear antenna....and plugging it in to the back of your new set. An antenna will give you a perfect high def picture. Why buy an antenna?
- With HD, there is no "ghosting" or snow, as with analog TV antennas
- High Def is either perfect or not there at all
- You can receive all local Cincinnati channels in High Def with an antenna, free. However, make sure you get an antenna that picks up BOTH VHF and UHF channels. WCPO is on VHF, others may be on UHF.
- For ESPN-HD, Discovery-HD, and other cable channels, though, cable or satellite is required.
Viewers have aksed me how to see High Def on an older analog TV: You can't see it on an analog TV.
