I had a GE microwave a year or so ago and it didn't catch on fire but simply blew up. A couple of weeks later, my neighbors had a burned out GE microwave, same model as mine, in their trash. I wasn't thrilled about buying a GE, and with good reason. I haven't used a microwave since; I get along fine without one.

Unfortunately, GE appliances have been bad for years, but this seems to be a lot worse.

The website BringGoodThingsToLife.org has been tracking and reporting on this problem for years. Check it out for the latest information.

The opening from Fight Club is coming to mind. At this point, I guess they still think it's cheaper to deny a problem than issue a recall. That plan isn't going to work forever.

Hi John, Do you know which models are affected. Last May my husband and I purchased new GE kitchen appliances and we have had nothing but problems. Our stove's oven door had a sealing issue and after repeated calls to GE who claimed that their appliance did not have any defects a service man determined that our oven door was not sealed properly. In additon the fake stainless steel knobs were melting/crazing from the heat pouring out of the improper seal and GE claimed it was a cosmetic issue and would not take responsibility. Furthermore, our dishwasher had to be replaced due to a cracked seal and our refrigerator has had numerous plastic pieces replaced due to cracking. Needless to say we are very disappointed in the products and GE's lack of accountability for poor products. We have asked for a full refund and have begged them to take the appliances away but all they offer is an extra 6 months warranty. Little good that will do me when I planned on keeping my appliances for a good 10 years. Fat Chance. Anyway, I am very concerned about the microwave issues as we have a GE microwave and it's the only product that has yet to malfunction! Obviously I am waiting for the other shoe to drop. Any additional information that you can provide would be most appreciated. Sincerely, Michelle Healy Amberly Village
