More and more of us are receiving calls from debt collectors....over some old debt we may not even be responsible for.
So now I want to tell you about a new easy way to fight these collectors if you get the dreaded call.
---------------------
Denise is one many people who opened their mailbox one day only to receive a collection notice about a debt that wasn't hers.
"Last summer I got a letter claiming I owed someone 550 dollars."
Many other viewers have told me the same thing happened to them: comapanies called "Zomibe" debt collectors are buying up 10 and 20 year old debts, then coming after people.... or people with similar names to the real debtor.
Among them: Mike, who says..
"I had a call claiming I owed some bill."
But Mike wanted to share a great website he found.... that helped him fight back.
Its a consumer site called "Fair-Debt-Collection" dot com.(CLICK THE LINK ABOVE)
It provides you a phone script for dealing with harrassing collectors.... and sample dispute letters, which Mike used to fight his collector.
Mike says "they have standard form letters, making it a great tool to use. You just fill in the names in the blanks and it protects you against these collectors."
It also offers tons of free advice...such as:
--You must respond in writing within 30 days to a collection letter if you want to fight it.
--At that point the collector, by law, has to produce proof of your debt. Many times, they can't.
--Never negotiate a bogus debt over the phone.
--And never pay even a penny toward a bogus debt: That means you accept it as yours, and can no longer fight it.
The "Fair Debt Collection" website will walk you through the steps ...so that you can fight a wrong accusation.
And that way you "Don't waste your money." I'm John Matarese.
