Saves money. Saves trees. Plenty of opportunity to still have the paper phone book. Ample online directories. The best one that I've found is WhitePages.com. http://www.WhitePages.com

I wonder if the "nonpublished number" charge will decrease now. They should drop this nonsense altogether.

I am for this. It doesn't say that you cannot get a white pages phone book, only that you have to request it. If you leave it for people to opt out, most won't waste their time doing that. This way the people that truly want a phone book will have it but the people that don't care, won't receive one.

I was very disappointed to hear this! I use my small Boone County phone book constantly. It was a real lifesaver when I moved here from out of state, didn't know anyone, where anything was or how to get there, and had a husband who had to go to work leaving me home with a small child. We even save our old books and have one in each car for times when we're out and need something or to call someone whose # isn't in our cell directory. We don't use the huge Cincinnati/No. Ky one very much, but we have used it several times. So I guess I would opt to still receive my local one. I can't be bothered running to screw around on the computer when I can just pick up the book and have the # at my fingertips in a few seconds!

I usually throw away my new phone books when they come just because the one I have has notes and book marks in it for numbers I may call more often. After about 5 or so years, I go ahead and keep the new book they send and throw away the old.

I can't think when the last time was that I used the white pages. Sadly, I think I get 2-3 sets of white/yellow pages each year from competing companies. I will not miss these things.

I think it is a good idea. Let's face, a lot of people don even use Cincinnati Bell any more for their phone service. I can't remeber the last time I looked at the white pages.

Right now, doing a google search, you can not find me. Will that still be possible if the white pages are online? If not, I am not interested. Sure, someone in cinci area can find me, but do I really want that info all across the world??? No

I am glad the White Pages will no longer be delivered. They always went straight from my doorstep to the trash can. Between the internet at my house, cell phone, and GPS, I cannot remember the last time I used a book to find a phone number. I am a proponent of calling and requesting one if your situation requires the use of a phone book.

In addition to the other great comments, phone directory publishers use recycled paper so they are not cutting down more trees and the extra features can be very helpful to those without computer access or the computer savvy to navigate through all the junk.
