Two 18-year-old Florence men face charges in a string of car break-ins at two Boone County apartment complexes.
Korydon Alexander and Denny Fessler are each charged with criminal trespassing and theft after deputies, responding early Thursday morning to reports of cars being broken into at the Saratoga Place Apartments in Boone County, found the two acting suspiciously.
Deputies were dispatched at about 1 a.m. to the complex at
3401 Queensway Drive to investigate reports of two men breaking into cars. Upon arrival the deputies blocked a parked van the two men were driving and set out on foot to locate them. The two were arrested about 3:15 a.m.
Officers said the two admitted to breaking into five cars at the complex and another 10 at the Charleston Pines Apartments at
1700 Charleston Court in Florence. Among property recovered from the van were compact discs, jewelry, cigarettes, lighters, sports equipment, groceries, and alcohol.
Investigators also interviewed the two about another series of break-ins over the holiday weekend in Union and Hebron but don’t believe they are tied to those thefts, according to the sheriff’s department report.
Anyone with information concerning those thefts is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (513) 352-3040.
In light of the break-ins, Boone County Sheriff Michael A. Helmig reminded motorists to take care to lock vehicles and remove valuables from sight.
