Telemarketing Calls Bombard 911 Dispatch Centers

Last Update: 7/07 12:44 am
Some local 911 call centers are being bombarded by telemarketing calls.

A supervisor at the Warren County emergency dispatch center says the problem stems from robo dialers – computerized programs that randomly call phone numbers.

Hamilton County dispatch says its seen a similar problem.

The agencies typically wait for a customer service rep to request that the phone number be removed from the list.

Dispatchers say they usually hangup so they can get to emergency calls.
