A fallen war hero now has a Northern Kentucky post office named after him.

The Dayton, Kentucky post office has renamed their facility the "Staff Sergent Nicholas Ray Carnes Post Office."

Officials presented Carnes' family with a plaque during a renaming ceremony Wednesday morning.

"The work that Nick was involved in will have a lasting effort on the generation for the Afghan people," says Battery Commander, Captain Shawn Jones.

Staff Sergent Carnes lost his life while serving in Afghanistan.
