Owensville Police Chief Hit, Killed In Lexington

Officials say an Owensville, Ohio police chief was killed in an accident in Lexington Tuesday afternoon.

Fifty-five-year-old Paul Sturgill was killed after he was struck by a vehicle along I-75 north around 3 p.m.

Lexington police say a Dodge Dakota lost control and hit a barrier wall and pulled over to the right shoulder.

Police say the driver of the Dodge Dakota was hit and killed after he exited the vehicle.

9News has learned an email from the Police Chief's Association went out to local law enforcement officials saying that Sturgill had been killed in an accident on I-75 in Lexington.

Police say 73-year-old Alma Sturgill, a passenger in the Dakota was injured in the accident. She was transported to the hospital. Her condition has not been released.
