A 17-year-old male is behind bars after a fight in Turtlecreek Township turned deadly.
Investigators say the juvenile was hanging out with three adults when something went wrong early Tuesday morning in the 1100 block of
Oregonia Road.
Authorities say Charles Needham, 61, of South Lebanon, and the juvenile got into a fight.
Sgt. Brandon Lacy says Needham was struck during the fight and fell to the ground striking his head on the driveway.
Someone frantically called 911 around 3 a.m. asking that help be sent as soon as possible.
Caller: "We had a friend over and he fell and busted and knocked down on his head and everything.
Operator: Ok. Where did he fall from?
Caller: Off the car.
Operator: He fell off of the car?
Caller: Off the car. Off the back of the car, yeah. He was drinking and he fell off the back of the car. "However, Warren County Sheriff investigators say that's not what happened. They say Needham did not fall off of the car.
"We were able to determine that that was not the cause of Mr. Needham's death. We're confident in our investigation that we know exactly what happened and it did not involve what was portrayed on the 911 call," said Lacy.
Warren County Sheriff investigators have charged the Price Hill teenager with involuntary manslaughter.
You could hear people screaming during the call to emergency personnel that the victim was losing consciousness.
Operator: "Is he responding to you at all? Or is he completely unconscious?
Caller: "He's made a couple of noises, but he's unconscious now.Investigators say they still have a lot of questions. They want to know what led to the fight.
Also, why the juvenile was hanging out with the three other adults?
Authorities are also still trying to determine if Needham and the suspect knew each other before gathering at the home on Oregonia Drive.
The prosecutor's office could decide to try the juvenile as an adult. He is being held in the Warren County Juvenile Justice Center.
The incident remains under investigation.
