One person is recovering in the hospital after a gas line ruptured and ignited in Miamitown Monday morning.

Crews were working in the 6000 block of Ohio 128 when the gas line broke around 12:30 p.m.

Officials say two workers suffered injuries. One worker was transported to University Hospital with burns to their face. The other employee was treated at the scene.

Crews had to close I-74 in both directions until the gas was turned off by Duke Energy. The interstate has reopened but Ohio 128 in the area remains closed.

Several businesses in the area were evacuated as a precaution.
