BOONE CO., Ky -- Rescue crews have successfully rescued a man from the Ohio River near Boone County.

According to officials, the man became stranded in the water in the 8033 block of McVille Road near the Eastbend Power Plant early Friday morning.

The man reportedly told police his boat broke loose from the Dearborn County side of the river and began drifting away, so he went in after it.

Initial reports indicate the man had a life jacket on and was not drowning, but was unable to get back into his boat on his own.

Multiple rescue agencies responded to the scene and Dearborn County crews eventually pulled him to safety.

Police say the man is fine and did not go to the hospital. His boat, however, ended up drifting about 1.5 miles down the river.
