Hamilton County Coroner O'dell Owens says the death of a North College Hill woman last week was heat-related.

Owens says Fannie Shockley, 84, mistakenly turned the heat on in her apartment instead of her air conditioning on June 23. He said the temperature of her body was 108 degrees when she was found. The outside temperature was in the 90's at the time.

The coroner says family and friends regularly checked on her, but that the mistake took place between the times of those checks.

They had placed a blue mark on the thermostat to indicate where the air conditioning should be turned on and another to turn on the fan.  However, Dr. Owens says Shockley switched on the heat by mistake.
