I can understand in these economic times why people would be upset at the thought of an earnings tax being imposed without their consent or vote. I would be upset as well. But to dissolve the village, to make a move that would be considered, in my opinion, a last resort seems like a drastic move from citizens that have a deeper agenda. Take a step back. Look at it from the outside, if you can. To try a metaphor, it is like amputating an appendage because you got a papercut and you fear that it is going to get bigger. Ok, not sure if that works, but my point is (and was well illustrated last night) - if you have a problem with the way the government is being run, get in and change it from the inside. Get on council. Make a difference. Effect change. You can have more impact on making improvements to the village and how it is run that way, than to eliminate the government as a whole. I think there is more to the story here. I think there is a hidden agenda from the people that want this village dissolved. Has to be. Because stepping back and looking from the outside just doesn't make their reasons make sense. I was delighted to be on hand to watch them self-destruct last night. It only strengthened my view. And the lawyer came off as VERY pompous - a Pierce Township citizen, what are you even doing here?? Another hidden agenda? One last note: My children and their safety are first and foremost to me. These are much different times to be raising children than whenever the lady on the "fiscal" panel raised hers. To make the statement that her kids turned out fine and she didn't have street lights simply lacks logic. I try to be the best parent I can be for my children. But I would never expect someone else to willingly give up a facet of what they feel is security for their kids. It is crazy for that lady to expect me and others to do just that. Taking away our incredible police force is even more asinine! I WILL Vote NO!!

I was at the Town Hall meeting last night. I think both sides had valid questions, I was a little concerned that only one side had any answers. The Mayor had very precise answers to the questions asked of Him. The Yes side had comments that could not be proven or verified. Most of their answers were, I believe, or I think, my opinion is, it seems logicial that. They promised facts and COULD NOT DELIVER ANY. It just seems odd to me that their name says they are for fiscal responsibility. How does that happen? Last night, one of their panelists was asked about the safety of our children if the street lights were not kept on. I couldn't believe she said, I grew up without street lights, and that she wouldn't mind paying extra to have her lights kept on. She also said she didn't mind paying extra for services as long as it wasn't to Amelia. That doesn't sound very responsible to me. It also seems odd to me that the stump they've been standing on started with a tax issue. Then when light was shed on their inability to produce any accurate facts, the now have changed tactics and now are attacking the Amelia Polce force.

GREAT JOB Mayor!!! I was absolutely dumbfounded when the "Yes" side wanted to turn off our street lights, and not keep our children safe while waiting for school buses. What are they thinking it 1850? They also couldn't answer any questions with facts, just opinion, beliefs & rhetoric.

I fill that things went great last night, now you saw how the yes people cant bring any real facts to the table. its all just there opinions and they dont have facts to back up what they been saying all these months.the mayor did a great job, so thanks leroy.also after may 5 and in nov when the seats are up for the 4 Council members and you want to make change in the village then please go out and fill those seats. but dont punish those of us that like the village . and we do have great police officers that work for us and keep us safe. so thanks again mayor for a good job last night to inform us about what the other side has been saying and that they couldnt explain what they been saying all this time so i hope we have some people flip over to vote no on issue one .

As a swing voter from last night’s discussion, it seemed to me that the Mayor was very well prepared in his thought and verbal preparation then the “Yes” representatives. Both parties had good questions about issues, but I had a hard time following the “Yes” Representatives in there answers and rebuttals. Clearly my vote swung in Favor of the “No” side, that the opposition didn't have the answers or facts of the issues.
