On the same night Prior to this accident which involved alcohol, these 3 teens were pulled over by Indian Hill Police. 2 officers knew that these teens were drinking and that they were all underage. The driver was cited and let go as if he were of legal age to drink. The officers "cut them a break", by letting them get back in the car and drive. This accident could have been prevented if: 1) The driver didn't make the choice to drive; 2) Had the Indian Hill police officers done what the law required for underage drinkers, and arrested them and towed the car, and; 3)Someone had not bought them the alchohol in the first place. The driver and the front seat passenger were in Bethesda Hospital for 2-3 days...the car was demolished. The driver had to have his right ear stitched back together, a hole in the right side of his head stitched, and his eyebrow and eyelid stitched back together. He has suffered severe pain, headaches, post traumatic vertigo, and severe emotional distress over the fact that harm had become of his 2 friends. I have pictures of the car. I am a mother (mother of the driver),who among the other parents that got that "dreaded phone call in the middle of the night, we all fear". I would much rather of had a phone call from Indian Hill police saying they had done the right thing and towed my car, and taken the kids to jail. My son, his two friends, parents, and numerous friends have all suffered immensely, emotionally, financially, and physically. I am very upset about the fact that this all could have been prevented by adults doing the right thing, and my son making the right choice.
