I do understand that Ohio has turned it down numerous times in the past. Let's look at the differences this time. Each time it has been placed before the voters, the proposals had been twisted by lies and misconceptions by anti gaming groups. Every time it has been on the ballot, there has always been all kinds of excuses why we should vote no. Each time, there will be some sort of an excuse. I've read the official literature on the past issues. I have also read the anti gaming literature as well. They say it will destroy families, etc... The majority of patrons that I see in casinos and racetracks are senior citizens! They enjoy going to the racetracks and casinos. These are people that have worked their whole lives, and have been successful. Bingo is fun, but it gets old and I don't see much of a difference in slots and those little pull tab tickets at the bingo halls. For the record, I do go to church. How many of us have played poker or some kinda "game of chance" at special church functions? I don't want the Church to dictate what I do. It should be my choice on whether I play the slots or not. Doesn't GOD grace me with the freedom of choice? That's why my ancestors moved to America. How many of us play the stock market? Putting a quarter in a slot machine is bad, but "investing" into stock is O.K.? A little hypocritical! Oh yeah, drugs kill people. Putting a quarter in a slot machine doesn't. Regardless, The Methodists are using their positions of the church to coerce a government body which is not separating church from state.

I do think gambling is an addiction but addicts will find a way to get their next "fix" no matter how far they have to go. Why not keep the money in Ohio?

Wait... wasn't Ohio in a budget crisis when Strickland did ads urging voters to vote AGAINST a casino in Wilmington? Woodlyn: Sorry, but Bishops voicing an opinion on slot machines isn't really "politics", it's simply voicing an opinion on slot machines (not saying I agree with the Bishops).

Bishops: stick to your church, and lv. the politics alone. Help your churh get moremembeship, which i sure u r in need of. keep politics out of church/church out of politics. nuff said...............
