Methodist Bishops Blast Strickland's Gambling Position

Last Update: 6/23 10:56 pm
Both bishops of the Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church say they're unhappy with Ohio Governor Ted Strickland's support for a plan to put video slot machines at seven race tracks in Ohio.

They say gambling exploits people and they're pessimistic that a "quick fix" for the state's budget problems is possible.

Strickland is an ordained Methodist minister, but is not active in the ministry.

The Governor blames the budget crisis for the change in his position.
