Christ Hospital's Doctors On Video - Heart and Vascular Services

In 1969, The Christ Hospital’s department of cardiac surgery was created, and the first cardiac surgery was performed. Since then, more than 20,000 heart surgeries have been performed, helping The Christ Hospital attain its long-standing reputation as "Greater Cincinnati’s Heart Hospital."

Research in The New England Journal of Medicine concluded that heart attack patients taken to the hospital with the most cardiac experience, as opposed to the standard practice of taking them to the closest hospital, were more likely to survive. The Christ Hospital performs more than half of the Tristate’s cardiovascular procedures every year. All of these procedures are performed using the most sophisticated medical technology available, including a new electrophysiology lab, new state-of-the-art CT and MRI cardiovascular imaging and the new daVinci surgical robot.

Annually, Christ Hospital performs approximately...
  • 800 open-heart surgeries
  • 2,400 coronary angioplasties
  • 1,100 peripheral angioplasties
  • 5,000 cardiac catheterizations
  • ...more than any other hospital in the Tristate.
This quality is recognized year after year through many awards and distinctions. We feel the most prestigious of these awards is given by our patients—the most preferred hospital award. For more than 11 consecutive years, National Research Corporation (NRC) has named The Christ Hospital a Consumer Choice Award winner. Consumers in the Cincinnati market have rated The Christ Hospital as the hospital most preferred for best quality and image, as announced in Modern Healthcare magazine. This testimony of our patient preference is prevalent in our patient satisfaction scores as well.
