I went to see Uncle Al with my sisters and got in trouble when I tried to eat all the Mamas cookies!

Growing up in Cincinnati, I remember faithfully watching Uncle Al, and actually once enjoying the thrill of being on his show. I was impressed and somewhat disappointed that that the barn scene, used during the show's second half, was simply the opposite wall from the opening scene. I recall just turning around in our seats (a long bench) to face the opposite wall and the new set. Perhaps other viewers can confirm a musical memory. Did the mail man sing the tune Bizet's Carmen with these words? "I am your mail man. I work for Uncle Sam. I bring you letters as fast as I can. How do I know that you have one to send? Put up the flag and I'll take it to your friend." Please let me know if you recall the mailman singing this song. I really would like to erase this particular musical memory. Whenever I hear Carmen, these "mailman" lyrics overpower everything else. Does anyone else have this memory?

I was on the show @'72 or '73. I went with my neighbor and their kids. My sister and I were chosen to play one of the games for prizes. My sister played the game where her and her partner had to get to a marshmallow at the middle of a long string, using only their mouths. She didn't win. I was chosen to play a game with 3 large boxes. I remember the bright lights ad the cameras being right in my face (about a foot away). They showed me a mediocre prize in one box. They said I could pick another box, but one had a booby prize in it. I chose the right box! It had a bunch of prizes in it.. SSP racers, a submarine, an organ... bunch of stuff. My mom felt bad that the people that invited me didn't win anything. She had me give them some of the toys. She was a class act. The booby prize.... an old gym shoe. I wish there was a video archive, but they probably threw all those tapes away.

Uncle Al was part of a pretty cool "Six Degrees of Cincinnati" experience for me. When we were dating, my future husband & I discovered we had both been on the show the same day! Our families each had the same studio photo! (Posted in the photo gallery under "Love at first sight".) There we both were in 1965, two 5-year olds about 4 people away from each other, not to meet again until 15 years later at Xavier. We got married, & just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. Thanks to all who shared memories. Wow, I thought I remembered a lot about the show, but reading all these comments has brought back memories of songs and "bits" I had forgotten!

My daughter Tonya was in the show august 10 1975 on Tonya's 3rd birthday. Wendy held tonya. Uncle Al put Tonya on the merry-go-round. It was wonderful. Tonya talked fondly about it her whole life.In 2001,Tonya was brutially killed by a boyfriend, from whom she was trying to separate. Tonya suffered for three days before she died. One of the things that have helped me to reconcile with Tonya's tragic death is the fact that Tonyahad always raved that she had had a wonderful childhood and Uncle Al was a huge part of that innocence. I am so grateful for his life and talent. Thank you also Wendy, the two of you mean so much more than you will ever know. Marilyn Hope

I like thousands of other kids was on the show several time - mostly on my birthday, but a little known story about me is that my sister and I danced as a team for a while and performed on several occasions around the city as a troop of performers in shows Uncle Al produced for various organizations and events. We also acted/performed in his Halloween special around 1970 as did our mother who played the part of "Mrs. Brown" who the kids visited for treats. The last great memory I have was getting to be a "performer" on a parade float with Uncle Al when he participated in the City of Bellevue's Centennial Celebration in 1970. I always laugh today when I think about the way he played that accordion. Steve Stevens, President - Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce

I remember going to the Uncle Al show twice, once with our neighbors and the second time with a close friend. She was scared out of her wits and would not leave her mothers lap. I also remeber being the little weather girl. It was cloudy that day,so they put a cardboard cloud over my shoulders and I walked across the stage while Uncle Al and Wendy sang "what makes the weather come and go"!

I was gonna be on on the Uncle Al show in the late 70's but I was so scared I sat on my mom's lap through the whole show. So I don't remember anything about it. But I sure wish I did!
