The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is holding a Wild Horse & Burro Adoption event this weekend.
It began on Friday and will continue this Saturday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Champions Center at the Clark County Fairgrounds (St. Rt. 41 and I-70, exit 59). in Springfield, Ohio – northeast of Dayton, Ohio.
Adoptions are done on a first come, first served basis after your application has been approved. A minimum adoption fee of $125 is standard, although there are exceptions.
If you miss this adoption event, there are alternatives.
St. Mary in the Woods College (Terre Haute, IN) has seven mustang yearlings available for immediate adoption. These horses have been trained and handled by students at the college this spring (See “Related Links” for more information). Deadline for adoption is April 23 and horses must be picked up between April 24-28.

To qualify for adoption of a mustang, adopters must be at least 18-years-old; be financially able to properly house, feed, and provide veterinary and farrier care for the horse(s); have an appropriate trailer to haul the horse(s); and have corrals or pens that meet BLM specifications.
