You may notice some improvements in your digital signal starting Tuesday, because WCPO's digital antenna is now broadcasting full power.
Viewers who receive Channel 9 over-the-air will need to re-scan their converter boxes and digital televisions in order to receive the stronger signal.
Workers removed the old antenna from the tower on the morning of Wednesday, June 24. On Tuesday, July 7, crews began placing the new antenna at the top of the tower.
Until the new one was installed and fully operating, we had to broadcast using a reduced power antenna. But, as of Tuesday, July 14, we are now broadcasting in full power.
The new antenna, which weighs in at 10,000 lbs. and tops the tower at approximately 900 ft., will provide viewers with a much more powerful digital signal.
WCPO was the first Cincinnati TV station to broadcast local news in high definition.
