Meteorologist Cyndee O'Quinn joined WCPO in November of 2002, but she's no stranger to Cincinnati and its weather.

Cyndee worked at WKRC from January 1994 to April of 1995 and experienced Cincinnati's second coldest winter firsthand.

Cyndee's love for weather began as a child. She always enjoyed studying geography in school and chose meteorology as a career when she was a senior in high school.

Her hometown of Huntsville, Alabama was hit by a F-4 tornado in November of 1989, killing 22 people and touching down a mile and a half from her high school. Many of her friends and teachers were affected by the tornado that struck without warning.  Cyndee decided then that she wanted to be a meteorologist and help save lives during severe weather by providing early warnings.

By March of that year, she was working at WAFF-TV as their youngest employee. Cyndee, who was just 17 years old at the time, assisted Bob Baron in the weather department.

Baron went on to develop VIPIR, FastTrac, BTI and StormWarn that WCPO uses to analyze storms and provide earlier warnings for severe weather.

Cyndee and her husband Jim returned to Cincinnati in April 2002 when he was transferred. His family is from Cincinnati and they are glad to come home and be near family.

They are the proud parents of 4 children, three boys and one girl. With ages spanning from 1 to 10, Cyndee stays busy keeping up with Jamey, Kaitlyn, Quigley & Patrick when she is not working on the forecast.

They also share their home with several pets. Daisy, an American Bulldog came from a shelter in West Union, OH and Shadow, a large yellow lab-mix is from the Clermont County Animal Shelter. Tigger, the cat, has been with the family since North Carolina.

Cyndee is very happy to be a part of the Channel 9 family. Working with Steve and the rest of the Channel 9 Forecasters allows her to be a part of a team dedicated to providing the Tri-state with the best weather coverage.

Cyndee has been expanding her role at Channel 9. Her newest project is Weather 101. It is the place to go to find that extra bit of weather information you want to know. Check in each week for new stories. You can find Weather 101 at the bottom of the main weather page.

Cyndee is a member of the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association and currently holds her NWA Seal
