When did you start working here? August 2008
Where else have you worked? I was an Anchor/Reporter for KWCH-TV in Wichita, Kansas.
Where did you go to college? I'm a 2007 graduate of Northern Kentucky University with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism and minor in Radio/Television.
What are you most proud of when it comes to your work? The first two years of my career were without a doubt the hardest. While in Kansas, away from my family and friends, I earned four Kansas Association of Broadcasters Awards. This ultimately led to me landing my dream job at 9 On Your Side shortly after my 24th birthday. Knowing I was coming home to Cincinnati to tell stories in my hometown was a moment I will never forget.
What are you most proud of in your own life? While professional accomplishments are celebrated, in my opinion, they pale in comparison to personal accomplishments. Every moment of everyday, I represent a precious little girl who calls me dad and a beautiful woman who calls me her fiance.
My daughter is the reason I wake up in the middle of the night to do what I do. When my daughter hurts, I hurt. When my daughter smiles, I smile. When my daughter is scared, I’m scared. When my daughter learns, I learn. Her life continues to amaze me.
My fiance keeps me grounded yet supports my dreams more than I could have ever imagined. Day in and day out she's a light in my life that keeps me smiling.
What do you love about living in the Tri-State? First, my family. Second, the Cincinnati Reds. Third, everything else!
What are your favorite local hangouts/places, sports & cultural institutions? While I enjoy working in all the Tri-State communities, I love Mason and West Chester. This is the area I grew up! I'm a proud graduate of Lakota East High School and now reside in Mason.
All time favorites? There is something about country music that touches my soul. Both new and old, really old... Hank Williams Sr. old.
I also love a good movie. Top two? Good Will Hunting and Top Gun.
Other than 9 On Your Side & WCPO.com, you get your news from: I often watch CNN and read the Cincinnati Enquirer. An insider tip, I hear a lot of the days news from my sources that I've gained during my 5+ years at 9 On Your Side.
Apps you can't live without? 9 On Your Side Storm Shield Weather App. Plus I like to see Larry Handley do his best to use it live on air each morning. It's like watching someone rub their belly and pat their head at the same time.
Tell us more! At the end of the day, it's a pleasure to not only work in my hometown, but at the same station my step-father (Chic Poppe) spent 40 years of his career.
Also, my "Gran" Norma has been a 9 On Your Side fan for longer than I've been alive. I love knowing she watches me each morning.
