Local church films movie in Corryville

CINCINNATI - You may have recognize some well known talent and celebrities around Corryville lately. A movie called, "A Strange Brand of Happy," is being filmed all over the Tri-State.

This isn't your typical Hollywood Glamour, the crew is pretty grounded, partly because most of the crew has a tie to Vineyard Church in Springdale.

Allison Shepard is a member there and she also served as an extra on Wednesday's set. She's a visual artist and musician at Thomas More College, but recently decided to take a stab at acting in a romantic comedy.

"I've never been in any films, that are professional films, I've been dabbling on my own with short films and made a brief appearance in that," Shepard said.

Shepard said it was the best decision she's made in a long time.

"I do want to start making ambitious short films, so I thought if I just saw the lighting, the lenses, the cameras and the way and that they orchestrate everything and keep it organized, I will learn a lot," Shepard explained.

The Director, Brad Wise, is originally from Ohio and a graduate of The University of Cincinnati DAAP Program. He says he got the idea from some of his friends at Vineyard Church.

"I work up at the Vineyard in Springdale, so kind of out of the blue, a few years ago, a bunch of us sort of came out of the woodwork to do a short film, and kind of fell in love with the art of film making, had a script idea in 2009 and here we are," Wise said.

The film also includes Grammy Award Winning Artist, Rebecca St. James and actress Shirley Jones from the Partridge Family. The film should be finished in 2013.
