New laser treatment promises to erase bags under your eyes

CINCINNATI - Hair stylist Donna Mart was tired of looking tired. Eye bags and swollen, puffy skin were dragging her down.

"I would get that comment frequently. Did you not rest, are you tired? Which isn't good," Mart said. "You don't want your clients thinking you're working on them tired."

They're called "festoons," and they're primarily caused by sun damage. It's a swelling in the eyelids and upper cheek that can make you look years older than you are.

Dr. Adam Scheiner of the Tampa Eye Clinic has perfected a laser technique that can literally wipe away unsightly bags and festoons. It worked for Mart.

She says the results since and the comments from clients and everybody have just been phenomenal.

Mindy Dietterick is another patient of Dr. Scheiner. He uses the laser to zap away the top layer of Mindy's skin. He says the procedure will make her sun-damaged skin smooth, tight and younger-looking.

Dr. Scheiner says, after two weeks of recovery, the new skin will last as long as she stays out of the sun.
